Alien Overrun is a real time strategy defense game with a caricature twist. A horde of aliens is invading the medieval city and the player has to build defenses and counter attack the invasion.

Overrun is the Alien Overrun’s main battle music. Overrun as a musical piece looks to communicate the medieval aspect of the game through its instruments selection, but articulated with a modern melody to create the juxtaposition of old and new era feel. The heavy percussion resembles the call to war while looking to inspire courage with emotionally intense vocals. The violin looks to establish the overall mood of the game with cellos and brass instruments lifting the melody up in an interpretation of medieval musical progression. All of this melodic structure is shattered by a sharp change in percussion rhythm and articulation giving the opportunity for a more jovial interpretation of war dynamics through the fleeting notes of the flute and clarinet while the trumpet and tuba take on a less serious and rigid role.
