Ephemeral Enigma looks to create a musical environmental soundscape that develops the strategic thinking atmosphere and mood of the player. That is why this piece looks to be more of a background element in the player’s game experience while not lacking interesting components to offer the player when the player’s mind needs to wonder and find inspiration for a breakthrough tactic. Ephemeral Enigma establishes a constant articulated melody with bells that make up the base of the piece. It has a flute that comes in and out that builds on the basic melody and tenor and baritone choir creating more depth. Percussion is used very carefully, using cymbals and taiko drums to resolve the climax and tension that the piece slowly builds up gathering all instruments alongside them to represent the instance where an enigma is resolved on a game.
